Creating comfortable and welcoming TCG environments

To ensure all attendees have memorable experiences, we are continually improving our events. Over the years, we've implemented several steps that have successfully improved inclusivity across different events, setting a standard that we are committed to maintaining and building upon.

Quiet Rooms

To ensure our events are welcoming and supportive for all attendees, we are proud to offer several key initiatives. Our events can get busy - and with high energy, there is constant noise that some people may find overwhelming. The establishment of Quiet Rooms provides a necessary sanctuary for those needing a break. We are excited that we will have a quiet room available for the first time at one of our Magic: The Gathering events at our upcoming UGEMS Regional Championship in Prague (29-31 May)!

Fixed Seating

Our Trading Card Game championships attract thousands of competitors, who battle it out in up to 9 rounds throughout an entire day - which requires your concentration to be high with only short breaks in between. Coupled with a large event hall and having to switch your seat every round, this can quickly become a problem for those with impaired mobility. Event-long fixed Seating options address these accessibility and comfort needs.

Monitors

During video game competitions, players often play on smaller, handheld consoles. Providing monitors supports a variety of technical and viewing requirements for those with vision impairment.

The Pokémon Sisterhood League

(Trading Card) Games are celebrated by a huge audience of different people. Yet, competitive tournaments and leagues remain vastly cis-male-dominated spaces, despite casual gaming showing a much wider demographic spread. This gender disparity shows us that there is still much to do to truly build a community in which everyone feels welcome to enjoy their favourite games.

The Pokémon Sisterhood League is an important step to open up competitive gaming environments for Pokémon fans across the world. The event is a tournament dedicated to uplifting and celebrating women and nonbinary Trainers within the Pokémon community. It serves to create a safe and welcoming space for Pokémon Trainers, cultivating a secure and comfortable environment that promotes a healthy, supportive, and fun community.

Looking ahead

We hope that these measures will have a positive effect on our community. As we continue to strive to empower gaming culture across the world, we are dedicated to improving our events for all attendees. By listening to community feedback and evaluating potential shortcomings, we are confident that we will create memorable experiences for all TCG fans.
